Recall that the Mr. and I decided to use a vinyl shake product for the front of our house, which is different from the CertaPlank product we put on the rest of the house. So, when we were able to start siding the front a few months into our siding project; the tension was mounting. Would we like this new product? How would it look?
The verdict is in: The vinyl shake product, although pricey, is worth every penny.
We only just started siding this area, so I only have "during" pics. And again, every side has a challenge or two for us. On the front, we are planning to add a second story deck, so we have affixed a ledger board to help support it (in case you are wondering why there are boards separating the first and second story). Please also excuse all the miscellaneous stuff everywhere, this is a worksite for the moment.

So far, I really like the way the shake looks and I'm also happy with the contrast of the white against the dark blue. Perfect for a lake house, I was recently told -- and I agree.
