Guest Bedroom Reveal

We finally got around to making some progress on one of our spare rooms, the larger of the two and the room that we use for adult guests spending the night.

In case you don't remember, this was the room when we bought the house.

Notice that this bedroom has an off-center window above the dresser. Grrr. Also, as I'm sure you can tell, even though this bedroom is the larger of the 2 spare bedrooms -- it isn't what I would call a large room. We have no plans to drastically change this room, even with the remodel --which makes it a great candidate for a little refresh.

Let's look at the room after a little TLC.

Alright, so we obviously painted the room and the trim. We also added furnishings that we had from our days at Greenbriar. Additionally, we added a new headboard,

Notice how the curtains hide the off center window? I still wasn't able to actually center the bed in the room, but it is MUCH closer than if the bed were centered under the off center window. As per usual, my strategy with off-center windows is: Cover them up!

Remember how we painted and added lath board to all our main living level interior doors? This side of the door is Sherwin Williams Ellie Gray, the walls are Behr Burnished Clay. Pay no attention to the missing switch plate, or the copper colored cold air return that needs to be painted to match trim. I'll get to that later (I hope!).

Ok, let's talk about what still needs doing in here.

- The outlets and switch plates need to be updated

- The floors need a good cleaning

- The vents need to be painted to match the white trim

- I need to paint the closet doors Ellie Gray to match the bedroom door

- I really would like some nice blinds to replace the cheap and dumpy ones over the window

- Also, the blinds are covering up the fact that I never painted the trim around the window and that will need to be remedied as well.

- There is still a wall hanging that I could put up on the closet wall

Even with all the work yet to be done, this room came a long way in a single weekend!

By the numbers, estimated project costs as always:

-Paint $25.00 - I was able to use some paint we had on hand (white and Ellie Gray)

-Headboard $70.00 - sourced from Overstock

-2 Curtain Rods $30.00
